This policy covers the Yes Chef Food Fest app and nothing else.
Buying a ticket, the website and our marketing emails are covered by the Yes Chef Food Fest privacy policy, which is a separate document.
THE SHORT VERSION
The app is free. There are no ads and no in-app purchases. We ask for an account so the stamps you collect follow you to a new phone. We don't sell your data, and nothing you do in the app is visible to anyone else.
WHAT WE COLLECT
Your email address. This is how you sign in. If you use Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, we receive the email from them. We never see your password, and if you use Apple's Hide My Email we only ever see the relay address.
Your name, when Apple or Google provide it with your sign-in. We store it on your profile. The app has no name field and never asks you to type one.
An internal user ID that ties your stamps to your account.
Your food stamps - which spots you tasted, which of the six free tastings you claimed, the booth and lot, the cuisine tag, and the date you earned each stamp.
A push notification token, if you turn notifications on.
WHAT WE USE IT FOR
Signing you in, and keeping your stamps attached to your account.
Recording a stamp when you earn one, and counting them.
Sending the push notifications you opted into - a free tasting opening, something on the timetable starting. A whole festival day is about a dozen of them.
No advertising, no profiling, no selling, no tracking across other apps or websites.
WHO SEES YOUR STAMPS
Only you. The app has no feed, no friends, no sharing and no public profile. Nothing you do in the app is visible to another person using the app.
SHARING
We do not sell your personal information and we have never shared it with anyone for advertising.
The only companies that touch your data are the infrastructure providers we use to run the app - hosting, the sign-in and database service, and the services that deliver push notifications and app updates. They process it on our behalf and for nothing else. Beyond those, we disclose data only when the law requires it, to protect our rights or prevent fraud, or if the business is ever sold or merged - in which case this policy travels with it.
WHERE YOUR DATA LIVES
On servers in the United States. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, that means your data is transferred to the US to be processed. We rely on standard contractual clauses with our providers for that transfer.
RETENTION AND DELETION
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists.
You can delete your account from inside the app, at any time, without asking us. Open the app, tap the gear in the top right of TODAY, then SETTINGS → ACCOUNT → DELETE MY ACCOUNT. You will be asked to type DELETE to confirm. That removes your sign-in, your profile, every stamp you have earned, your favourites and your push token, permanently and immediately. It cannot be undone.
If you would rather we did it, email app@yeschef.group and we will complete it within 30 days.
CHILDREN
You must be at least 13 to have an account in the app. The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child under 13 has an account, email us and we will remove it.
YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict or erase your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Email us and we will honour those requests whatever country you are in.
SECURITY
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards. Sign-in tokens are held in the iOS keychain on your device, the database sits behind deny-all row-level security, and the app talks to our API over HTTPS only. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot promise otherwise.
CHANGES
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and say so in the app.
